Sinn Féin reaffirm support to the restoration of Western Rail Corridor



As calls continue for the restoration of the Western Rail Corridor, locally elected members of Sinn Féin have reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the reopening of the entire line.

 

 

Currently, there are only plans to clear the existing rail line between Athenry and Claremorris, something that has left a sour taste in Sligo and the north west.

 

 

The party held a media event in Sligo yesterday where they called for the line to be extended to Collooney which in turn insure connectivity between Ireland West Airport Knock and Galway.

 

 

Speaking at yesterday’s event which took place at Sligo Railway Station , Sinn Féin spokesperson on transport and Sligo-Leitrim TD Martin Kenny says the restoration of the line would have a number of benefits to the area:
