Improvements for Monasteraden received support from the Sligo County Council at the recent County Development Plan meeting.
Land has been secured in the area with the intention of providing community facilities, once funding is received.
Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Paul Taylor stressed the importance of making rural areas appealing to live in.
Cllr Taylor says the village should receive the same treatment as other areas and have acceptable facilities.
