The Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team stand down operation after missing walker at Tullylacken is found



The Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team were called out last night following reports of a walker being missing locally on the Tullylacken Loop in North Leitrim.

 

The operation was stood down after the missing person managed to make their way back roadside, it’s understood the male walker was picked up by a local person and brought to a Garda Station.

 

Temperatures last night dropped to -4 degrees and as a result there was genuine for the missing man.

 

It’s understood that an Garda Síochána, Rescue 118 and North West Mountain Rescue Team were also part of last nights operation.

 

Meanwhile Sligo-based Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 118 also assisted in a major multi-agency operation on Lough Foyle yesterday afternoon which saw four people rescued from the water.

 

The operation was launched when a 30-foot fishing vessel overturned.

 

four casualties were located and recovered by the Greencastle Coast Guard Unit and transferred to hospital by Rescue 118.

 

The casualties are being treated at Altnagelvin Hospital as a precaution.
