North West’s hospitals remain severely overcrowded



The North West’s two main hospitals are among the top five most overcrowded in the country today.

According to today’s figures from the INMO, there were 36 people waiting for a bed at Sligo University Hospital. A further 31 were waiting at Letterkenny University Hospital, bringing the total in the North West to 67 today.

Those numbers mean that Sligo University Hospital is the third-busiest facility in Ireland today, while Letterkenny is joint-fifth, alongside University Hospital Galway.

University Hospital Limerick remains the most overcrowded, with 102 people awaiting admission there.

Overall, today’s figures stand at 479 nationwide.
