Vincent Roddy expresses concern with European Parliament’s vote on Restoration Law

A local farming official has express his disappointment the European Parliament’s vote, on the EU Nature Restoration Law.

The President of the Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association says vote is a direct attack on farmers and communities in the North West/

Vincent Roddy has also expressed his surprise that all the Irish MEPs voted for this measure.

The legislation, which intends to restore Europe’s natural habitats and biodiversity was passed in the European Parliament after securing 336 votes, there were 300 against, and 13 abstentions.

The law sets ambitious targets for member countries, demanding the restoration of a fifth of their land and sea by 2030.

The targets then increase for 2040 and 2050, when 70% of land and sea habitats will be expected to be restored under the proposed laws.

Vincent Roddy has been telling OceanFM news that yesterday’s vote will have major consequences for Irish farmers:
