Increase in number of cars purchased in Donegal and Leitrim



Counties Donegal and Leitrim have both seen an increase in the number of cars purchased in the first four months of 2023 compared to the same period last year.

Sligo, however, has seen a decrease in figures.

A total of 1,597 cars were purchased in county Donegal in the months of January to April, 56 of which were electric.

Leitrim also saw an increase with 23 more cars totaling 288 purchased in the first four months of 2023, 33 of which were electric.

Unlike its fellow North West counties, Sligo saw a decrease with 698 cars purchased in the first four months compared to 718 in 2022.

Sligo also saw three less electric cars purchased in the first two months of 2023, with 89 purchased.

In total, new car registrations for the first four months of the year nationally were up 9.9% to 13,161 when compared to April 2022.

11,164 new electric vehicles were registered nationally.
