A motorist has been caught speeding in Sligo as part of National Slow Down Day.
The driver was clocked travelling at 89km/h in a 80km/h Zone on the N17 at Carrowclare, Lavagh on Friday.
Also on Friday, a motorist was caught travelling at 87km/h in a 60km/h Zone in Ballyshannon.
Gardaí conducted speed checks on drivers across the country for a 24-hour period from 7 o’clock on Friday morning as part of National Slow Down Day.
During the 24-hour period of National Slow Down Day, GoSafe checked the speed of 140,720 vehicles and detected 211 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit.
