Gardaí issue Bank Holiday road safety appeal



Gardaí are calling on drivers not to use their mobile phones while driving this weekend.

11 people have died on the roads during Easter Bank Holiday weekends since 2018.

The appeal comes as Gardaí detected a number of motorists exceeding the speed limit in Sligo on Friday morning.

A motorist was travelling at 170km/h in a 100km zone with another motorist travelling at 93km/h in a 50km zone.

The Garda safety appeal for this weekend also includes a notice to drivers to not take a chance behind the wheel if they’re intoxicated.
