North West gears up for St Patrick’s Day Celebrations



Towns across the north west region will be keeping their fingers crossed for improved weather conditions ahead of the St Patrick’s Day celebrations, which will get under way tomorrow.

Weather-wise tomorrow we can look forward to a mix of cloudy and some sunny spells with widespread showers however that will not dampen the enthusiasm that clearly evident ahead of the 2023 St Patrick’s Day Celebrations.

Things will be kicking off in Sligo Town at 12 midday, in what promises to be some of the biggest celebrations the town has seen in some time.

The theme of the parade this year is Ceol agus Craic, and there’s no doubt there will be plenty of both to be seen throughout the day.

Finbarr Filan is involved with organizing the parade in Sligo, and he’s looking forward to getting the event underway:

While the main event will be taking place in Sligo Town, there will be a number of other parades on around the county too. The parade in Enniscrone starts at 1pm, while celebrations will begin in Easkey at 3pm.

Things kick off in Ballymote at 3.30, and again in Dromore West at 4pm.

Gurteen will start their party at 4.15, and the final parade in Sligo starts in Aclare at 4.30pm.

In south Donegal, The Ballyshannon Parade is getting underway at 2pm while there will be a family fun prize giving event at Dorrians Hotel at 3pm.

Also getting underway at 2pm on Friday is the parade in Killybegs.

The annual Bundoran St Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Friday at 3:30pm.

While Dunkineely’s first ever St. Patrick’s Parade will take place at 3pm on Saturday.

Donegal Town’s Parade is starting at the St John Bosco Centre, at 3pm and Mayor Pauric Kennedy says it promises to be an exciting day:

 

The 2023 St Patrick’s Day parade in Manorhamilton will get under way at 5 p.m. tomorrow evening.

There’s a fancy Dress theme associated with this year’s event.

Gerry Creamer is part of the organizing committee, he says this year’s event will also honour the Manorhamilton Castlerea Band which was passed in the North Leitrim town for over 30 years.

Speaking to Ocean FM news Gerry Creamer says he’s hoping for fine weather and the opportunity for a repeat of large crowds which attended last years event:
