Local Councillor slams record-equalling trolley figures



Hospital overcrowding has hit a new high today.

According to the INMO’s Trolley Watch Figures, there are 760 people on trollies in hospitals around the country – the highest figure since January 2020.

In the North West alone, there are 86 people waiting for a bed in the region’s two main hospitals. There are currently 41 people on trollies in Letterkenny University Hospital, with a further 45 in Sligo University Hospital.

University Hospital Limerick is the most overcrowded facility in the country today, with 92 people awaiting admission there.

In response to today’s record-equalling trolley figures, a local councillor has condemned what he described as a national problem.

Cllr Donal Gilroy, who is also a Sligo Representative on the Regional Health Forum, described today’s figures as disappointing.
