Reported sightings of Lion’s Mane jellyfish at Enniscrone Beach

Sligo County Council has received reports of sightings of the Lion’s Mane jellyfish in recent days at Enniscrone Beach.

Anyone who observes one in the water or on the beach should take the necessary precautions, keep their distance and inform the lifeguards on duty, or they can also contact their Local Authority.

The jellyfish are quite common to the cool waters of the North Atlantic however they can still sting when dead and they should be avoided and reported if possible

Further information about jellyfish and how to treat stings can be found at beaches.ie
