Online meetings get underway today in relation to Bank closures

A number of online meetings aimed at reversing the decision to close a number of local branches of Bank of Ireland will get underway this evening.

Sinn Fein are hosting the online public meetings calling on Bank of Ireland to keep branches in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal open.

The Sligo meeting is taking place on this evening from 8pm and on tomorrow from 8pm for Leitrim.

Representatives from groups such as Muintir Na Tire and Active Retirement Ireland will be airing their views during the meetings.

Sligo Councillor, Thomas Healy, says services have been reducing for years in the region.

Speaking to OceanFM News, he believes no banks should be closing, especially doing the pandemic.
