Latest Covid-19 figures from the North West



The Health Protection Surveillance Centre have confirmed that a further 5 people have died from Covid-19 and 611 new cases yesterday.

 

Locally 60 new cases were confirmed in Donegal yesterday.

 

There were 204 cases across 21 Counties.

 

Also yesterday Health officials confirmed that 51 cases first reported on Tuesday were allocated to Donegal’s figure, 7 were allocated to Sligo’s figure.  There was no change in Leitrim’s figure.

 

More local businesses have been impacted as a result of the Coronavirus, Strollers shoes in Sligo has temporarily closed after a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

 

The Sweet Beat Café in Sligo have also their decision to close on a temporary basis following the positive testing for Covid-19 by a member of staff.

 

Christmas can be saved if the right measures are taken, according to public health officials.

NPHET is warning that cases of Covid-19 could exceed 1,000 a day in a matter of weeks and says we are now in a period of exponential growth.

Public health officials will meet again today and say they are deeply concerned by the rate of transmission since they last met on Sunday.
