Business people to make their case on infrastructure to the north and west



Representatives of chambers of commerce from eight towns and counties are meeting with government representatives later this morning to ensure north west roads are kept to the forefront.

Sligo, Donegal, Leitrim, Roscommon and Carrick on Shannon are some of the groups being represented at a meeting in Buswell’s Hotel, Dublin at 11 o’clock which will be chaired by former Sligo chamber president David Kiely.

The aim of the meeting is to ensure that N4 and N5 road projects are kept to the forefront ahead of the new strategic planning framework and capital expenditure programme to be launched in 2017.

The group want to see the government honour commitments to upgrade the N4 and N5 between Mullingar, Sligo and Mayo.

David Kiely says it’s important they make their point now before discussions start on this framework and the capital plan early in the New Year:
