Donegal among counties hosting the most Ukrainian refugees



New figures released have shown that Donegal is among the counties currently hosting the most Ukrainians.

While Leitrim is one of the counties hosting the least amount of international protection applicants.

According to figures published in the Irish Independent, Donegal is currently home to the second highest amount of Ukrainians in the country, with 3,956.

That is second to Kerry, with 6,195, with Cork County in third with 3,018.

Sligo is currently hosting 1,493, with 822 in Leitrim.

The figures released also accounted for International Protection applicants. Leitrim had the lowest figure nationwide, with 104. Sligo has 490, with 1,913 in Donegal.

Despite having a total population of around 31,000, nearly 1,000 of those in Leitrim are Ukrainians or International Protection applicants.

Donegal was again among the top three in the country with both figures combined, coming to a total of 5,869. This was beaten only by South Dublin with 6,062, and Kerry with 7,088.
