Safety concerns as work set to start on new Ballymote health centre



There’s concern in Ballymote that work is starting on a new primary care centre in the south Sligo town before plans are in place for a safe entrance and exit route to the centre.

Last week the Ballymote centre was one of 14 facilities around the country to benefit from a loan of €14 million from the European Central Bank.

Work is set to start on the new centre today with the HSE welcoming the start of work at the site in Earlsfield.

However, Denise Davey, spokesperson for residents in Ballymote who are concerned about safety at the entrance and exit to the new centre, wants to ensure their concerns, and particularly a motion passed recently at a meeting of Sligo County Council, are not forgotten.

She says they will continue to call for an access road to be built:
