An Garda Síochana are set to benefit considerably for this year’s Budget outlined by The Minister of Finance, Pascal Donohoe.
700 new Gardai with an extra Garda budget of €81 million euro is what was promised in the last night’s speech by Mr.Donohoe.
In addition, the employment of civilian and community staff into An Garda Siochana policing stations will increase, in order to allow the transfer of members of the force from administrative roles to direct policing duties.
However, Sligo/Leitrim TD and Sinn Fein Party spokesperson on Justice and Equality, Martin Kenny believes this doesn’t go far enough.
With Brexit set to arrive and the border not far away Mr.Kenny says so much uncertainty still remains;
