Ciaran Mullooly outlines reasons for contesting European election



The latest candidate to enter their name into the hat for this year’s European elections says he’s looking forward to the campaign.

 

On Friday night, it was confirmed that former RTÉ correspondent Ciaran Mullooly will be the newly-formed Independent Ireland party’s candidate in the Midlands North West constituency.

 

Formed last November, the Independent Ireland party currently comprises of three deputies, Roscommon-Galway Independent Michael Fitzmaurice, Michael Collins from Cork and Limerick’s Richard O’Donoghue.

 

Mr Mullooly worked at RTÉ for 27 years and was appointed Midlands Correspondent in 1995, before retiring from the broadcaster in 2021.
