Mercy College reach Connacht LGFA final

The Mercy College senior gaelic footballers from Sligo have reached their first Connacht final since 2003 following Monday’s 3-8 to 3-6 win against Davitt College, Castlebar.

There was little between the teams for much of the hour in Swinford, but the Mercy Girls kept their composure to win by two points at the finish.

The team includes several of the Mercy students who were part of the School’s recent All-Ireland under-19 national basketball title success in Dublin.

The Mercy gaelic football team is managed by former Sligo player Lisa Casey and Emma Norman.

This is just the second time that the Mercy has reached a Connacht senior gaelic football final.

The previous occasion was in 2003 – which they won.

This year’s provincial final will be played on February 20th.
