Donegal and Leitrim miss out on women’s support funding for local elections

Over €200,000 is to be divided among local authorities right across the country to encourage and support women and diversity ahead of the 2024 local elections.

The announcement was made by the Government today.

It’s been confirmed that Sligo is to €8,000, however there’s been no funding announcement for Donegal and Leitrim.

It’s understood that every local authority that applied for the funding is set to receive a share.

Both Donegal and Leitrim County Councils have been contacted on the matter, and Ocean FM News is currently awaiting their response.

Dr. Michelle Maher, of See Her Elected, says that although Donegal and Leitrim haven’t received funding this time, the allocation for Sligo is a boost.
