Department of Integration say no refugees will arrive in Dromahair without prior engagement with residents

The Dromahair Concerned Residents Association say that they have received written confirmation from the Minister with responsibility for Integration, Roderic O’Gorman that no refugees will arrive in Dromahair until there has been engagement between the Minister’s Department and the local residents group.

In a statement issued to Ocean FM news this morning the groups say that a ‘positive’ meeting was held yesterday with local TD’s Frank Feighan, Martin Kenny and Marian Harkin.

It’s understood that the meeting was also attended by local councillors from the Manorhamilton Municipal District.

An event to highlight concerns that many local had in relation to refugees being placed in Abbey Manor Hotel in the village attracted large crowds last week.

Minister O Gorman’s Department has provide assurances that no refuges will be housed in the facility until the concerned residents association discuss with them their concerns.
