Minister refuses immediate meeting over Donegal diabetes crisis



The Health Minister has refused to meet with Donegal Branch of Diabetes Ireland in the wake of a major crisis in services locally.

 

Campaigners in Donegal are calling for a meeting with Minister Stephen Donnelly and the HSE over critical delays in adult diabetes services at Letterkenny University Hospital.

 

The Health Minister has however given reassurances that recruitment efforts are ongoing to fill a number of vacant posts at the diabetes department at the hospital.

 

Donegal Sinn Fein TD Padraig MacLochlainn pressed the Minister to commit to an immediate a face to face meeting with campaigners.

 

Minister Donnelly says he wants to use the time in getting the consultants in place but didn’t rule out a meeting down the line:
