Calls are being made to freeze rents across the private sector, following the publication of the latest Daft.ie report.
The report highlighted increases in rent right across the region, with the average rent in Sligo up by over 10% to over 1200 euro a month, and rent in Leitrim increasing by 12% to just over 1000 a month on average.
Sinn Féin TD Martin Kenny feels something urgent needs to be done to stop the rents increasing.
With young people leaving the country in droves, Deputy Kenny says things are at a crisis point.
