Sligo councillor calls for more assistance from the public in tackling rural crime



The general public have been asked to redouble their efforts in helping Gardaí combat rural crime.

 

With the clocks going back recently and wintertime setting in the number of burglaries ten to increase in many rural areas.

 

As recently as the weekend an aggravated burglary  took place  at a residence in Coolaney in County Sligo.

 

During the course of the incident, two men are understood to have accosted a man in his 60s after entering his residence.

 

The suspects subsequently made off with a sum of cash.

 

Fine Gael Councillor Dara Mulvey says local Gardai will leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of criminals that engage in such activities.

 

Speaking to Ocean FM news Cllr Mulvey says the general public have a huge role to play in combatting rural crime.
