Minister Simon Harris in Sligo to officially link St Angela’s to ATU Sligo

The incorporation of St. Angela’s College into ATU Sligo has been described as a “no brainer”.

St. Angela’s College has now dissolved and has become a part of the ATU, the third largest third-level institution in the state now with nine campuses.

Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris has visited St Angela’s to mark the occasion this morning.

Speaking to Ocean FM News at St Angela’s this afternoon, Minister Harris said the move is a positive step in regional development in the North West.

The move to officially link St Angela’s with ATU Sligo has been welcomed by a number of local representatives.

Sligo Leitrim Fine Gael TD, Frank Feighan, described the occasion as a great day for the North West.

Independent Councillor, Marie Casserly, feels that there is now less of a need for students to leave Sligo as a result.
