Proposed modular structure for Sooey National School ‘not good enough’

A North West TD has raised concern in the Dáil in relation to the proposed modular Structure that the Department of Education are proposing for Sooey National School in Sligo.

Sinn Fein Deputy, Martin Kenny described such a structure as completely unsuitable for the school that are looking to upgrade facilities for two ASD classes.

The school is also looking to construct a GP room.

With an enrolment of 117 pupils from a large catchment area Deputy Kenny says the school needs a permanent building to cater for the needs of the students.

He says the response back from the building section of the Department Education was completely inadequate

In response the Tainaiste advised the Schools Board of Management to engage with the Department of Education and said he would raise the issued with the Minister for Education Norma Foley.
