Coolera/Strandhill & St Molaise Gaels to meet in Sligo SFC final

There will be a novel pairing for this year’s Homeland Sligo senior football championship final on October 22nd when Coolera/Strandhill take on St Molaise Gaels in the county’s gaelic football’s showpiece decider.

Coolera booked their place in the final with an impressive 2-14 to 1-9 win over St Mary’s – while St Molaise Gaels qualified for their first final since 1978 after beating their north Sligo neighhours – and conquerors of seven-in-a-row champions Tourlestrane in the quarter-finals – Drumcliffe/Rosses Point, on a final scoreline of 0-14 to 0-10.

Molaise manager Jimmy Langan spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Dónal Ryan after the win.

The final takes place at Markievicz Park on Sunday, October 22nd, at 3:15pm.

It will be preceded by the Connacht Gold intermediate final between Coolaney/Mullinabreena and Easkey after both teams came through their respective semi-finals on Saturday.

The intermediate final in two week’s time will have a 1pm throw-in.
