JPC meeting told that the Garda Commissioner is in favour of new Headquarters for Sligo

The construction of new Garda headquarter in Sligo seems to be a step closer today with the confirmation that the Garda Commissioner Harris has given his seal of approval to the project.

Back in September it was signalled that the Justice Minister Helen McEntee and the Minister with responsibility for the OPW, Patrick O’Donovan were in favour of the project.

Today members of the Sligo Joint policing commission hear how the Garda Commissioner is now also supporting the project.

Sligo Drumcliff Independent Councillor Marie Casserly had tabled a motion on the issue today.

She spoke to OceanFM news after the meeting and how with the Commissioner’s approval then there is no reason why the project can’t proceed.
