There is expected to be a significant announcement of funding for education facilities in the North West later today.
The announcement is expected to coincide with a visit to the area by the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Simon Harris.
Minister Harris is expected to announce over €360,000 in further education grants for Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Boards.
The allocation is part of the Further Education and Training (FET) Strategic Infrastructure Upgrade Fund.
It’s expected that €207,000 will be allocated to Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim ETB will allow it to carry out refurbishment and re-configuration works at its existing centre which is situated on Quay Street in Sligo Town.
Donegal ETB, are expected to be funded to the amount of€153,000 to allow the Stranorlar Further Education and Training Centre provide additional accommodation to enable the consolidation of the provision of services for the Post Leaving Certificate programme in the area.
