Manorhamilton Councillor says students traveling to Sligo ATU are struggling to get seats on overcrowded buses

Transport infrastructure Ireland are being sharply criticised for failing to provide extra buses to Sligo from a number of local towns and villages in the north west for the new academic year.

With Student accommodation at a premium in Sligo many students are traveling from satellite towns in the region.

As a result the bus services at peak time has witnessed an increased in demand with additional passengers looking to be transported to and from the ATU campus.

Manorhamilton is one of the towns where buses are reported to be struggling with capacity issues.

Local Councillor Felim Gurn says some students cannot get seats.

He is calling for additional buses such as the Rural Link service to be introduced at peak times.
