Election candidate says increased female representation and more political parties are needed on Leitrim Council



The Labour Party candidate that will select next year’s local elections in north Leitrim says greater party representation and more women are needed on Leitrim County Council.

 

The Labour Party has confirmed that Bernie Linnane, has been selected to run for the local election in the Manorhamilton Municipal District.

 

The local area representative lives in Dromahair, and has been involved in local politics and various campaigns for many years.

 

Speaking to Ocean FM She says she will be fighting the election on issues such as responsible planning and sustainable building development with the preservation of the natural environment.

 

While another one of her main aims is to help develop welcoming and inclusive communities for everyone.

 

The Labour Party member says that with the sitting six councillors in Manorhamilton in the 2019 elections changes is now needed.
