Local TD says ‘Significant progress’ made on new Garda Headquarters in Sligo

A Sligo Leitrim TD has expressed the view that we are now closer than ever to seeing new Garda Headquarters being constructed in Sligo.

Sligo Leitrim Deputy Frank Feighan says that progress has been made this week on the issue.

The Sligo based TD claims the Minister with responsibility for the OPW, Patrick O’Donovan and the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee are seeking a review of the decision not to progress with the OPW site at Caltragh.

The review is thought to be as a result of the decision not to amalgamate the Sligo/Leitrim division with Donegal.

Deputy Feighan, who has already signalled his intention to seek the party nomination for the next General Election in Sligo/Leitrim, says the opposition in Garda Management to the construction of new Garda Head Quarters in Caltragh has waned.
