Sligo man to be remembered in annual Oxford University lecture

A young Sligo man who was murdered five years ago will be remembered in an annual lecture in Oxford University.

Jimmy Loughlin was murdered in his apartment on Connolly Street in Sligo Town by Richard McLaughlin in a random attack in 2018.

The idea came after the CEO of counselling charity AdVic, John Dean O’Keefe, reached out to the university after working closely with Jimmy Loughlin’s family after his death.

The family were also presented with a silver commemorative plaque, and the James Loughlin Memorial Lecture will now take place on an annual basis in Oxford University.
