Bundoran Councillor begs Electoral Commission to reunite Donegal



The opportunity to reunite Donegal for the next general election should not be missed in order for the county to prosper.

 

That’s the warning from a Bundoran Councillor ahead of the publication of the review of Dáil constituencies which will strongly recommend that ‘the breaching of county boundaries’ should be avoided.

 

Currently Donegal is split with the South Donegal area included in the Sligo Leitrim constituency which also take in part of North Roscommon.

 

In the past the County of Leitrim was also divided for general elections.

 

The new Electoral Commission is due to report on its deliberations in less than two weeks with the number of TDs set to increase to as many as 181, up from the current 160.
