Sligo’s Nicole Fowley to captain Connacht



Sligo’s Nicole Fowley has been named as Connacht new senior women’s captain for the 2023 Vodafone interprovincial series which begins this Saturday.

Fowley, a former Ireland international outhalf, will again wear the No 10 jersey for Connacht this season.

The Connacht squad also other Sligo natives: Cliodhna O’Sullivan, Sonia McDermott and Grainne O’Loughlin, while talented 17-year-old Poppy Garvey is also training with the Connacht squad as part of the province’s wider development squad.

Donegal’s Laoise McGonagle has also been named in the 36-strong squad.

Connacht’s first interpro game is at home to Leinster this Saturday, before an away game against Munster and then a home fixture against Ulster.
