Counties Sligo, Leitrim, and Donegal each saw an increase in the number of cars purchased in the first seven months of 2023 compared to the same period last year.
A total of 2,463 cars were purchased in county Donegal in the months of January to July, 258 of which were electric.
Leitrim also saw an increase totaling 437 purchased in the first seven months of 2023, 50 of which were electric.
Similar to its fellow north west counties, Sligo saw an increase with 1,098 cars purchased in the first seven months compared to 1013 in 2022.
Sligo also saw 27 more electric cars purchased in the first seven months of 2023, with 147 purchased.
In total, new car registrations for the first seven months of the year nationally were up 24% to 27,148 when compared to July 2022.
4,161 new electric vehicles were registered nationally during the month of July.
