Seanad hears calls for new Garda Station to be established in West Donegal

A Donegal Senator has called for in the Seanad this morning for a new Garda Station to be constructed in west Donegal in addition to standalone Garda Division established in the county.

Senator Niall Blaney says the vast size of the county and the fact that Donegal has such an extensive border area Donegal urgently needs its own Garda Division.

Senator Blaney says with the current investigation that is under way at Slieve League, an ever increasing drugs pandemic in the county and tourist numbers visiting Donegal increasing with attractions such as the Wild Atlantic Way having Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal in the one Garda Division does not make sense.
