Deposits yet to be returned to students affected by Sligo accommodation debacle

The president of the ATU Sligo Students’ Union is warning that students are being left ‘frustrated’ and ‘anxious’ as a significant amount of student accommodation will no longer be available from September.

It was confirmed this month that between four and five hundred students lived in the Benbulben and Milligan Court facilities will be forced to find new accommodation for the new college term.

It’s under stood the apartments will be used to house refugees.

Despite the news being relayed to the students earlier this month, it’s being claimed by the President of ATU Sligo Students’ Union Dáire Martin that deposits still have not been returned.

He says this is an extra worry for many students as the area was already facing a student accommodation shortage.

Sligo-Leitrim Independent TD Marc MacSharry says the government must act and put a stop to the plans.
