Emergency Accommodation at a premium ahead of Bank Holiday Weekend



It’s emerged today that Seventeen local authorities no longer have the capacity to provide emergency accommodation.

 

The research, carried out by Sinn Féin, found five more councils had “extremely limited” capacity.

 

That data was released  during a record time for homelessness with over 11,000 adults and children on the streets.

 

Locally in Leitrim the local Authority has confirmed that they will be providing temporary emergency accommodation through hotels and guest houses.

 

A spokesperson for Leitrim County says if no accommodation is available in Leitrim they will look to source accommodation outside of the county.

 

In Sligo there is currently 2 single emergency accommodation units available while any families that require assistance should contact the social services of the local authority.

 

Ocean FM are awaiting an official response form Donegal County Council on the level of available of emergency accommodation currently available in the county.
