Man released as Gardaí suspect no foul play in Blacklion death



Gardaí have said following the results of a post-mortem examination, they are no longer suspecting foul play was involved in the death of a man who was found at an apartment in Blackion.

 

A man in his 30s who was detained following the discovery of the dead man’s body on Thursday has since been released, and a Garda spokesperson has said that he is “no longer suspected of any criminality in this incident”. 

 

The dead man has been named locally as Dennis Neary (52) who is originally from the west of Ireland.

 

He had recently moved to Blacklion and was living in a rented apartment in the village. 

 

Investigators were alerted to the scene at 9.15am on Thursday morning when the ambulance service and Gardaí received a call that a man was unconscious at an apartment.

 

Gardaí were first on the scene and rendered first aid, including CPR, but when medics arrived it was determined that the man had died.
