Increase in number of cars purchased in Donegal and Leitrim



Counties Donegal and Leitrim have both seen an increase in the number of cars purchased in the first two months of 2023 compared to the same period last year.

Sligo, however, has seen a decrease in figures.

A total of 945 cars were purchased in county Donegal in the months of January and February, up on 907 that were purchased in the same months in 2022.

Leitrim also saw an increase with six more cars totaling 154 purchased in the first two months of 2023.

Unlike its fellow North West counties, Sligo saw a decrease with 397 cars purchased compared to 408 in 2022.

Sligo also saw one less electric car purchased in the first two months of 2023, with 57 purchased.

89 electric cars were purchased in Donegal in January and February, up 27, while 18 were purchased in Leitrim.

Nationally, New car registrations for the month of February were up 9.9% to 13,161 when compared to February 2022.

2,219 new electric vehicles were registered nationally compared to 1,614 in February 2022.
