Killybegs man stands for GAA Presidency this Friday

Killybegs clubman Niall Erskine will be one of three candidates bidding to become the next President of the GAA when the association votes on a successor to Larry MacCarthy at Annual Congress in Croke Park this Friday night.

Erskine, who is the current Killybegs club development officer, has had extensive administrative exprerience nationally and is currently the World Games Chairman for the GAA.

He was nominated to run by Donegal GAA last September.

He is up against two other candidates: Armagh’s Jarlath Burns who narrowly lost out to Larry MacCarthy in the last Presidential election three years ago – and Pat Teehan from Offaly, who’s the current Chairman of Leinster GAA.

The winner on Friday night won’t take up office until February of 2024 – and will hold the post for three years.
