“They gave everything” – Strand Celtic boss on FAI Junior Cup exit

Strand Celtic coach Ryan McEnroe paid tribute to his players following Sunday’s exit from the fifth round of FAI Junior Cup.

Strand lost to Regional United of Limerick 3-2 after extra-time.

Dylan Martin gave the home side a first-half lead before two second-half goals from Rory Cassidy put the visitors in front.

Martin struck again in the closing quarter to make it 2-2 and take the tie to extra-time.

However with time almost up in the second period of extra-time, and the tie seemingly headed for penalties, Regional’s captain Ciaran O’Connell struck a free-kick to the Strand for the winner.

Strand coach Ryan McEnroe spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Dónal Ryan after the game.
