Sligo suffered a heavy home defeat on the opening Sunday of the new Lidl national football league Division 3 season as Clare ran out convincing 3-13 to 0-5 winners in Curry.
The Banner county, who contested the Connacht intermediate championship last year, were dominant from start to finish as a new-look Sligo team found the going touch from an early stage.
Clare netted three first-half goals to lead by 3-6 to 0-4 by the interval.
Sligo were more competitive in the second-half but were only able to add one further score -as Clare eased to a comfortable victory over Anthony Brennan’s side.
