Sligo Rovers won their final home league game of the 2022 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season on Friday night with a 1-0 win against St Patrick’s Athletic.
Aidan Keena was Rovers matchwinner, converting a second-half penalty – but the start of the second-half was delayed by several minutes following crowd trouble between rival fans on the Jinks Avenue side of the ground.
There were reports of bottles and punches being thrown as rival fans clashed during the interval.
It’s understood the match referee also received a complaint about racist chanting during Friday night’s game.
Friday night’s defeat means St Pat’s can longer finish third in the table, which would have earned them automatic European qualification next season.
