Sligo TD requested to engage with party to resolve complaint from councillor

It’s understood that the Fianna Fáil Chief Whip has written to the Sligo Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry asking him to engage with party bosses to resolve a complaint made against him by a Sligo Councillor Donal Gilroy.

Jack Chambers is reported to have a party meeting last night that this would allow the matter to be dealt with quickly and a motion to pave the way for Deputy MacSharry’s return to the parliamentary party could then be tabled at the “earliest opportunity.

He said the complaint was being managed by party headquarters in line with the Dignity and Respect Policy and Social Media Policy.

The Taoiseach, Michael Martin told that meeting that there is no agenda preventing the Sligo TD from re-joining the party.
