Drumcliffe/Rosses Point clinch minor ‘A’ championship title

Drumcliffe/Rosses Point gaelic footballers lifted the Sligo LGFA minor ‘A’ football championship title on Wednesday evening with a convincing 6-13 to 4-10 victory over Tourlestrane at Kent Park.

Dual star Katie Maguire scored 2-3 for the winners in a high-scoring county decider.

The north Sligo led club, playing with the wind advantage in the opening half, led by seven points at the interval – and they managed to keep Tourlestrane at arms length in the second half despite playing into the breeze.

With the tireless Anna Currid and Caoimhe Connor proving very influential in the middle third, Drumcliffe/Rosses Point closed out the contest with a nine point winning margin.

The new cup for the minor ‘A’ championship was kindly donated for this year’s competition by the Normanly family in Tourlestrane.
