There were 54 people awaiting admission in the two main North West hospitals this morning.
31 were waiting at Sligo University Hospital while a further 23 were waiting at Letterkenny.
University Hospital Galway was the most overcrowded in the country with 59 people waiting there.
Nationally, there were 463 people waiting at hospitals across the country today.
