Mona McSharry finishes seventh in European Championships final



Sligo swimmer Mona McSharry finished in seventh the 200m breaststroke final at the European Aquatics Championships in Rome.

The Grange native recorded a time of 2:26.96 at Monday’s final.

The race was won by Switzerland’s Lisa Mamie in a time of 2:23.27 for Switzerland, while the silver medal was won by Martina Carraro and Italy 0.37 seconds later with 2:23.63.

It was McSharry’s second final as many days at the European Championships as Mona, who began her swimming career at Marlin’s Swimming Club in Ballyshannon finished 5th in the 100m breaststroke final on Saturday.
