Fish could be off the menu as seafood sector struggles with energy costs



The CEO of the Irish Fish Processors and Exporters Association is warning that shops and restaurants could soon see shortages unless the Government steps in with supports for the industry.

 

Fishing representatives are due to meet with Marine Minister Charlie McConalogue later today for crucial talks as it relates to the rising costs that the sector is currently facing.

 

Brendan Byrne says fishermen in other countries are being supported through this difficult time and sees no reason why the Irish Government can’t do the same:
